2016 - 2017 Professor Checklist
Professors the Fall 2016 – 2017 School Year is approaching. Hopefully you were able to rest, relax and recharge during the summer break. Now it’s time to get on target and prepare for another year of unforgettable stories and memories, all whilst assisting higher education students aim towards college completion.
I have comprised a helpful list for Professors targeting the top 7 items you’ll most likely need for a successful academic journey ahead. You probably already have the items but I wanted to reinforce why the items in our list are essential for professors.
The list for Professors includes:
BIBLE
You will have a lot of books you’ll read, study and teach from but the one book you’ll need to navigate life’s journey is the Word of God. One tip would be to purchase a Bible with a translation that you can read and understand, because you’ll be studying from this book daily.
BRIEFCASE/MESSENGER BAG
A quality briefcase or messenger bag is essential for professors. You could carry a backpack but with so many graded papers and notes you’ll pass out to students it is essential to have a bag that is functional for professional and personal use. A tip would be to purchase a bag/briefcase that can handle the books & supplies you’ll have to carry. Your bag can be trendy, fashionable and stylish but make sure that it is equipped for the tasks you must perform ahead. Also purchase one that lasts!
COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES
During your higher education journey as a professor you will do a lot of walking. Be sure to purchase quality-walking shoes, because everyday will feel like a workout! Although you must dress professional during the week, have these shoes on standby when your feet get tired and achy.
WATER
Hydration is key! Some of the college classrooms you’ll teach in are not next door to each other. Oftentimes adjunct professors have to walk a significant distance within a specific time-frame to get set up for their classes. The heat and humidity could possibly make one feel like their energy has been zapped from them. One thing you want to do is stay hydrated and Rehydrate with water!
AN ORGANIC WHOLE FOOD MULTIVITAMIN
This is a multivitamin that is made from real organic nutritious foods. Be sure to contact and consult with your healthcare physician and nutritionist for the best multivitamin supplement for you.
COMPUTER & PRINTER
Purchasing a printer and personal computer is beneficial for your academic journey. Some colleges & universities provide faculty with a computer lab to work on projects and assignments which is great but some have time limits. If you want to avoid being held to a time-limit when working on a major project or class assignment purchasing your own PC and printer is a wise decision. I took this picture at a community college I worked at.
DRY ERASE MARKERS & ERASER
Owning dry erase markers and erasers is essential in my opinion, especially when some dry erase markers that are provided by the Higher Education institution dry out or end up missing from classrooms. If you carry your own dry erase markers to class make sure to take them with you!
Once again these are tips for Professors as they prepare for the 2016-2017 Academic School year.
