Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the LORD and not for men.
What is your motivation behind studying?
What is it, that causes you to complete the act of doing your best academically?
Many individuals have different reasons behind pursuing their higher education pursuits, but before one obtains the degree individual courses must be completed. So I am asking you again...What motivates you to study for each class?
Is an A out of the overall course your motivation?
Is a passing grade on your assignments and tests your motivation?
Is your motivation developing good study habits to model so your children, grandchildren, siblings or loved ones can see and implement?
Take a moment and identify the motivation behind your studying. If a student can’t identify a motivator behind why they aim to succeed academically, then that could possibly be the determining factor regarding a decline in one’s academic progress.
What are your intrinsic motivators for studying and doing well in school? Those internal motivators that naturally satisfy you and you alone?
For some as stated previously it could possibly be to do well in the overall course or to learn the subject matter/content.
What are your extrinsic motivators for studying and doing well in school? Those external outside motivators that arise from outside of you like money, a job or even praise?
For some it could be setting a great example for their loved ones to follow or to apply for a career that requires a Higher Education degree.
Take a moment today and identify the motivation behind what you are doing and make sure your motivations align with the God’s word to produce the God-honoring targeted goals in your life.
I’ve witnessed people only study because their friends, boyfriend or girlfriend was studying. I've witnessed some students only go to class when they felt that the instructor “actually would talk about something that interested them for that day" or if the instructor was “giving a test”.
I’ve observed people only motivate themselves to go to school because a big event was going on, but any other time they weren't present.
I’ve witnessed people motivate themselves to enroll in class, attend class for about 3 ½ weeks until their grants, scholarships and loans hit there account and then they are not seen until the next semester.
Examine your intrinsic and extrinsic motivators as it relates to your academic targets. Pray and ask God to direct you and to align your academic pursuits with His Master Plan.
Peace & God Bless.
